The Premier League champions have twice rejected bids from Chelsea during the close-season for the 27-year-old, who handed in a transfer request at the end of 2012-13.
Moyes handed Rooney his first start of the season against Jose Mourinho's men and was rewarded with a bustling display typical of Rooney as he played the full 90 minutes following a spell on the treatment table with shoulder and hamstring injuries.
The Old Trafford faithful also gave the England international vocal support throughout, despite fears of a fan backlash, much to the delight of Moyes.
The Scot said: "I was very pleased with Wayne's performance and very pleased by the reaction from the crowd.
"I told him I might only play him for 60 or 70 minutes and see how he was. But he worked back, he tackled and he was great.
"He was desperate to score and nearly scored with an overhead kick in injury time."
Moyes added: "He's been great in training and anyone who has looked at him has seen a slightly leaner Wayne.
"I think Wayne has a positive mind at the moment. I don't think that needs to change. I think his attitude showed a lot."
