Queens Park Rangers will make one last push to sign Tottenham Hotspur striker Jermain Defoe before the transfer window slams shut next week.
Hoops boss Harry Redknapp has been chasing the England star all summer.
He admitted last week that a deal for the player would be “hard” to negotiate, but SportsDirect News has learned he has not given hope of luring the 31-year-old to Loftus Road.
Defoe looks set to be third-choice at White Hart Lane this season, with Roberto Soldado and Emmanuel Adebayor both ahead of him in the Spurs pecking order.
Lilywhites supremo Daniel Levy values the little forward at around £7 million, but Redknapp may choose to pursue a loan move instead of a permanent transfer.
However, it remains to be seen if Defoe will be willing to drop down a division in a World Cup year, as opposed to staying and fighting for his place in north London.
