WEST HAM 2 CHELTENHAM 1

Ravel Morrison confirmed his outstanding promise by marking his first West Ham start with a superb individual goal that secured his side’s place in the third round of the Capital One Cup.
The 20-year-old, who joined the Hammers from Manchester United 18 months ago and spent last term on loan at Birmingham, was handed his chance to impress from the start against League Two minnows Cheltenham.
And he took his opportunity with both hands by finding the target with a fine individual strike just 40 seconds into the second half.

Morrison was once tipped as the finest talent to come out of the Old Trafford Academy since Paul Scholes, but he left United amid rumours of ill-discipline and a poor attitude.
However, a season in the Championship appears to have done him the world of good and, while while he has a long way to go to live up to the hype, Morrison offered a tantalising glimpse of his potential.
Collecting the ball on the edge of the area, Morrison turned inside, then out, leaving the entire Cheltenham defence wrong-footed before curling the ball low into the corner.
The Hammers were already leading thanks to Ricardo Vaz Te's free-kick just before the interval and, although Cheltenham pulled one back through a Matt Richards penalty, the Premier League side made it safely through.
Both manager Sam Allardyce and co-chairman David Gold made it clear before the game that, with the Hammers now looking a solid top-flight outfit following last year's promotion, they fancy a decent stab at the cups this season.
Such is the strength of Allardyce's squad compared to last term he was able to make 11 changes from the side which drew at Newcastle on Saturday while still bringing in the likes of Joe Cole, James Tomkins, Jack Collison, Matt Taylor and Vaz Te.

Their first-ever competitive meeting with Cheltenham and was certainly a full-blooded encounter with Cole and Town's Ryan Iniss requiring treatment early on, while Alou Diarra's rare appearance ended after half an hour when he departed on a stretcher.
New signing Razvan Rat, predictably dubbed 'Roland' by his team-mates, may have thought he was in for a gentle introduction to English football but the Romanian full-back was given the runaround by speedy Town winger Jermaine McGlashan in the opening stages.
But Cheltenham were largely restricted to long-range efforts in the first half with Richards curling a free-kick over and captain Russell Penn unlucky to see his 20-yard effort bounce on the roof of the net.
West Ham were hardly posing much more of an attacking threat, although they felt they could have had a penalty when Morrison tumbled in the area, only for referee Graham Scott to book him for diving.
