EJIDE SNUBS LEEDS UNITED

Nigeria goalkeeper, Austin Ejide has turned down interest from English Championship side, Leeds United in the ongoing summer transfer period, his agent has exclusively revealed to Complete Sports.

Ejide who is in the final year of his three seasons contract with Hapoel Be'er Sheva could as well walk out as a free agent at the end of the coming 2013/2014 Israeli season.

"Leeds United made offers for Austin but his club pleaded with him not to leave yet", Stanley Ndukanma, Ejide's agent informed Complete Sports.

"Reason was that they were unable to find a capable replacement so they begged him not to leave yet.

"They are aware Austin's contract will run out at the end of the coming season and it would be difficult to convince him to extend his contract because of the number and quality of foreign clubs coming for him".

Ndukanma said Ejide is at the moment happy at Hapoel especially as he's loved and appreciated by the club's supporters.

"There were also two clubs from Ukraine whose agents called me to make inquiries about Austin", he added.

"But because of the pleas by the Be'er Sheva officials, particularly the President, he decided to see off the remainder of his current contract with the club", the agent stressed.
