Luverdense stunned Corinthians in the first leg of their Round-of-16 Copa do Brasil tie as Palmeiras claimed a win on Wednesday.
A 90th-minute goal from Misael gave Serie C side Luverdense a dream 1-0 win against Corinthians, who are fourth in the top flight, in Mato Grosso.
Corinthians forward Romarinho was sent off in the 65th minute before two further red cards marred the encounter.
Ze Roberto's red saw Luverdense reduced to 10 men and Corinthians substitute Emerson Sheik was also red-carded in the 78th minute after the two were involved in an off-the-ball incident.
Misael had the last say as he got on the end of a Washington pass before finishing past Corinthians goalkeeper Cassio.
The forward appeared to bring the pass down with his arm but it went unspotted by the referee.
Defending champions and Serie B side Palmeiras recorded a 1-0 win at home to Atletico Paranaense thanks to a fourth-minute Vilson goal.
Santos claimed a 1-0 victory at home against Gremio thanks to Gabigol's 82nd-minute goal, while Samuel's strike gave Fluminense a 1-0 win over Goias.
Willian and Everton Ribeiro were on the scoresheet as Cruzeiro won 2-1 against Flamengo, who had Carlos Eduardo score an away goal on 69 minutes.
