REAL MADRID SET FOR ROONEY BID

United are reportedly ready to outbid Real's £86 million for the Wales superstar, leaving the Spanish giants with their backs to the wall.
Real are today (Monday) fighting tooth and nail to save their move for the Tottenham Hotspur winger, who would kickstart another ‘Galacticos’ era.
Bernabeu bigwigs, knowing United pose a serious threat to their move for the 24-year-old, have identified other targets and SportsDirect News has learned exclusively that Rooney is on the list.
The unsettled United striker wants out of Old Trafford and United boss David Moyes is far readier to let him go abroad than to move within the Premier League having knocked back Chelsea twice.
A Madrid move would see the champions recover £35m of the £86m Bale fee almost instantly.
Real previously declined to bid for the England star as they were convinced they would land Bale.
But United’s stunning offer has seen Carlo Ancelotti reconsider his options, and a move for Rooney would see him strengthen his forward line.
Indeed the Italian boss has regularly claimed he likes his squad and is content to start the season without Bale.
But Gonzalo Higuain and Jose Callejon have already left the Bernabeu, leaving just Arsenal target Karim Benzema and youngster Alvaro Morata as the Italian’s striking options.
Ancelotti is a huge admirer of Rooney and tried to land the 27-year-old when in charge at Paris St Germain last season.
