GOVERNOR PETER OBI FLOATS NEW SOCCER CLUB

Anambra State government has announced plans to float a premier League club as has been long demanded by the people of the state.

Executive governor of the state, Peter Obi, has given his executive blessing to the emergence of a Premier League club at an estimated cost of N500m.

Edozie Aroh, Commissioner for Sports in the state disclosed this at the government house, Awka.
“I’m happy to inform you that His Excellency governor Peter Obi has completed and approved plans to officially launch the long awaited state Premier League club", Aroh said.

Since the creation of the state in 1991, Anambra State has been without a state owned football club and the latest move by Peter Obi marks a remarkable departure from the old order.
