MONEY WORKED MAGIC FOR US - JUSTIN TENGER

Akwa United coach, Justin Tenger has attributed his side's massive win against Sunshine Stars to the financial incentive to his wards from the financier, Akwa Ibom state government.
The Uyo-based side defeated visiting Sunshine Stars 4-0 in the Glo Premier League Matchday 29 encounter on Sunday at the Uyo Township Stadium.
Akwa United leading scorer, Mfon Udoh scored a brace while former Niger Tornadoes defender, Emmanuel Ariwa scored the third goal and former Warri Wolves striker and substitute, Dauda Eboh completed the demolition of the Akure Gunners.
Tenger said what played out in the encounter against Sunshine Stars is a clear display of appreciation shown by his wards to the financial burden the government lifted off their shoulders.
“The players came all out to give their very best in the encounter and I make bold to say as a result of the 30% negotiated signing-on fees for the 2012/13 season they got from the state government.
“So the magic of today’s (Sunday's) victory is the fall-out of the financial relief coming from the payment, at least, it has gone a long way to alleviate their past sufferings and financial burden.
“The only motivation that brings out the best in the players and coaches is financial motivation, as it stands now I’m already thinking of going out there to pick my first win on the road.
“Of course, the home front is no-go-area for visiting teams, at least, for the duration of the ongoing season.
“In fact, I’ve renamed the Uyo Township Stadium as Kandahar Province, a typical small Afghanistan town that made life unbearable for the American soldiers during the war.
“There won’t be any escape of visitors on the ground, right now it’s an impregnable fortress for visiting teams,” said the former Kano Pillars coach to supersport.com.
The victory against Sunshine Stars has taken Akwa United's points haul to 40 from a possible 87 as they head to the ancient city of Kano on Monday for Wednesday’s rescheduled Glo Premier League Matchday 23 duel against Kano Pillars at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kofarmata, Kano.
