Fulham have not won since the opening day of the season in the league and sections of the Craven Cottage faithful vented their dissatisfaction towards the Dutchman in their 1-1 draw with West Brom earlier this month.
However, the London club managed to come from behind to beat Everton 2-1 in the League Cup at home on Tuesday to sooth some of the negativity.
Kacaniklic believes that shows they are slowly improving and leapt to the defence of his manager, hailing the work he has done for the club.
"He is always encouraging us so we are really happy for him and the team," the Sweden international said.
"We are close. He is always out on the training pitch with us and wants to get involved.
"He is great. Everyone has got their own style but, as a player, you want to be able to speak to the manager and have confidence that you can speak to him."
Fulham will attempt to arrest their poor league form on Saturday when they host Cardiff City.
