The Frenchman only joined Harry Redknapp's men from Marseille in January, but failed to help them avoid relegation from the Premier League during the latter half of the 2012-13 campaign.
Despite that disappointment, Remy has now been given a second chance in the English top flight after agreeing a switch to St James' Park, and Kinnear is certain that the 26-year-old will grab it with both hands.
"The need for us to strengthen up front was a priority and I have been working very hard to secure one of our targets in this position," he said in a statement.
"I'm delighted to have secured Loic for the season. Now we have him I'm sure he'll be a huge success for us; I know he's hungry for goals and is absolutely committed to helping us achieve success this season."
Remy, who is Newcastle's first signing of the current transfer window, scored six goals in 14 league appearances last season as QPR finished rock-bottom of the Premier League.
The former Lyon forward has been capped on 18 occasions by France, and has already set his sights on gaining a call-up for the 2014 World Cup.
