HART MEETS HART

There was quite literally a 'heart to heart' at Manchester City training when goalkeeper Joe Hart took some time out to chat to American celebrity Kevin Hart.

The actor and comedian, who has featured in Drillbit Taylor, Scary Movie and Little Fockers, spent the morning at the Carrington Training Centre and posed for pictures with Manuel Pellegrini's squad. He even slotted a penalty past England's No 1.

Following last week's 2-0 Champions League defeat by Barcelona, the funny man's appearance will provide a timely morale boost ahead of Sunday's Capital One Cup final with Sunderland.

ETO'S EX CLAIMS HE IS 39 YEARS

Eto'o's former partner, Anna Barranca, has weighed into the argument by claiming the striker is actually 39!

She told The Sun: 'I think Samuel is not 35 he is more 39. Samuel was born in 1974 and so that makes him 39 now.

BERGKAMP STATUE UNVEILED

Dennis Bergkamp unveiled his statue at the Emirates at the weekend.

How long will it be before the Alan Smith statue is erected next to it? After all, Smith scored the winning goal in the 1994 Cup-Winners' Cup final to seal the only proper European trophy Arsenal have ever won (we're not counting the Fairs Cup). That’s an achievement that surely warrants a statue. Better than sitting on the bench in a Champions League final for Arsenal, which is what Bergkamp did.

MOURINHO HITS BACK AT REPORTER

Jose Mourinho has hit out at the "disgraceful" ethics of a journalist recording and publishing his private, light-hearted comments about Chelsea's striking options.

Mourinho believes the media "should all be embarrassed" for reporting quotes filmed by French television station Canal Plus, when he was in conversation with a Swiss businessman at a recent sponsor's event.

The recording, aired on Monday, shows Mourinho commenting on Chelsea's lack of depth up front and questioning the age of Cameroon forward Samuel Eto'o.

"I think you should be embarrassed, as a media professional because from my point of view I don't think you - not you, but a colleague - [should be] able to record a private conversation, to make it public," he said at his pre-match press conference ahead of Wednesday's Champions League clash with Galatasaray in Istanbul.

"I think you all should be a bit embarrassed, because it's a case of the ethics you have in your work.

"From my point of view, is it an unhappy comment? Absolutely. But from the ethical point of view, I think it's a real disgrace.

SERIE A WRAP UP

Verona closed the gap on Inter in the race for UEFA Europa League qualification with a 3-2 win over struggling Livorno in Serie A on Sunday.

Andrea Mandorlini's side raced into a three-goal lead before the break as strikes from Bosko Jankovic, Romulo and Luca Toni looked to have set them up for a comfortable victory.

However that proved to be far from the case as the hosts replied in the second half through Paulinho and Leandro Greco, leaving Verona with a nervy final 17 minutes to hold on for the points.

Their win put pressure on fifth-placed Inter to get a result a couple of hours later, and Walter Mazzarri's side could only manage a 1-1 draw at San Siro with Cagliari.

The visitors went in front in the 40th minute when Mauricio Pinilla tucked home a penalty and although Rolando equalised six minutes after the break, the draw means Inter now hold just a one-point advantage over Verona.

Another side to make ground on Mazzarri's men were city rivals Milan, who continued their resurgence under Clarence Seedorf with a comfortable 2-0 win at 10-man Sampdoria.

Adel Taarabt opened the scoring in the 12th minute then turned provider just before the hour-mark when he crossed for Adil Rami to head home, before Maxi Lopez was sent off for the hosts after receiving two cautions for dissent.

Juventus extended their unbeaten run in Turin derbies to 16 matches as Carlos Tevez's 30th-minute strike earned them a 1-0 win against Torino, a result which sends Antonio Conte's men nine points clear at the top of the table.

At the bottom, Chievo climbed out of the relegation zone with a crucial 2-0 home win over fellow strugglers Catania.

Cyril Thereau's penalty on 37 minutes and Luca Rigoni's strike midway through the second half earned Chievo their first win in 10 matches and deepened the visitors' woes.

Elsewhere, two goals from Stefan Radu and one from Miroslav Klose helped Lazio to a 3-2 win over bottom side Sassuolo, while Antonio Di Natale's 71st-minute penalty rescued a point for Udinese in a 1-1 draw with Atalanta.

LA LIGA WRAP UP

Osasuna dented Atletico Madrid's title bid with a 3-0 win on Sunday, while Athletic Bilbao remain in pole position for fourth.

Atletico coach Diego Simeone opted to rest numerous key men following their 1-0 UEFA Champions League win over Milan and with Real Madrid up next in La Liga, but that decision backfired.

Alvaro Cejudo fired Osasuna into a sixth-minute lead as he buried Emiliano Armenteros' corner at the back post. Armenteros added a second in the 21st minute and he did so in style as he lashed in a fierce strike from 25 yards.

The visitors found Osasuna particularly difficult to break down and three minutes prior to the break the El Sadar crowd were cheering for a third time as Roberto Torres steered Damia's left-wing cross past the helpless Thibaut Courtois with precise header.

Simeone made changes at half-time and early in the second period, but his efforts were futile as Osasuna held on to the three-goal margin with relative ease, moving them seven points clear of the bottom three, while Atletico end the weekend three points behind leaders Real.

Athletic maintained their three-point lead over bitter rivals Real Sociedad in the race for fourth place with a routine 2-0 win at nine-man Real Betis.

Iker Muniain got the first from the penalty spot after Kike Sola was tripped by Damien Perquis, who received a second yellow card seven minutes later.

Chilean midfielder Lolo Reyes also picked up a second booking in the second half as Betis went down to nine men and Guillermo's first La Liga goal wrapped up the win in the 81st minute with a header at back post.

Valencia came from behind to steal a late 2-1 win over visitors Granada after Piti initially opened the scoring in the 47th minute.

Paco Alcacer guided Sofiane Feghouli's cross in to level the score 64 minutes in and Ruben Vezo netted his first goal for the club with a 91st-minute tap-in.

Unai Emery's Sevilla contested Sunday's early kick-off at Rayo Vallecano and put their six-match winless La Liga run behind them with a 1-0 victory.

The same fixture last season saw Sevilla miss two penalties in a 0-0 draw, but Coke's 57th-minute strike against his former side was enough this time around, despite the injured Vicente Iborra getting controversially sent off for time wasting while being substituted.

LIGUE 1 WRAP UP

A Zlatan Ibrahimovic hat-trick helped Paris Saint-Germain to a hard-fought 4-2 win at Toulouse on Sunday.

The haul took the Swede's Ligue 1 tally to 22 for the season, but Laurent Blanc's men were made to work hard for victory at Stade Municipal.

Ibrahimovic reached the 20-goal mark from the penalty spot after Ezequiel Lavezzi had been fouled by Uros Spajic in the area, before a Wissam Ben Yedder volley levelled matters before the break.

Lavezzi put PSG back ahead after 56 minutes, and Ibrahimovic flicked home Yohan Cabaye's free-kick to make it 3-1.

Ben Yedder netted his second 18 minutes from time to leave PSG sweating, but Sweden international Ibrahimovic completed his hat-trick with a rebound from his own penalty in the closing stages.

The win sees PSG re-establish a five-point gap to second-placed Monaco, while Toulouse stay 10th.

Lille missed the chance to close the gap on second-placed Monaco as they were held to a goalless draw by Lyon.

Nolan Roux almost broke the deadlock for Lille with a powerful effort in the 26th minute, before Salomon Kalou had a header saved by Anthony Lopes.

Alexandre Lacazette had the visitors' best chance 17 minutes from time, forcing Vincent Enyeama to push over his crossbar.

Despite the draw, Lille climbed back to third in the French top flight.

In the day's remaining fixture, Rennes gave their chances of survival a huge boost as they claimed a convincing 3-0 victory at Nantes in the Breton derby.

Paul-Georges Ntep gave the visitors a 1-0 lead at the break, before Anders Konradsen and Ola Toivonen made sure of a valuable three points in the second half.

The win takes Rennes level on points with their local rivals and nine points clear of the relegation zone.

ROONEY SIGNS NEW CONTRACT

Wayne Rooney has signed a four-year contract extension that will keep him at Manchester United until June 2019.

The England striker's future had been the source of speculation since Chelsea attempted to sign the striker last year.

With 18 months left on his previous deal, some of Europe's top clubs began to take an interest in the 28-year-old, but on Friday night he committed his future to United.

As part of his new long-term deal, Rooney will also become a club ambassador for United when he retires from the game.

"I am made up to be staying at United," said Rooney, who has scored 208 goals in 430 appearances for the club.

"In August I will have been at the club for 10 years and during that time I have played with some fantastic players and won everything that I hoped I would when I first signed.

"I now have the chance as one of the club's senior players to help the younger players coming through and to be a part of another great United team.

"The fans have always been a huge part of this club and the support they have given me since my debut against Fenerbahce has been amazing. I am very grateful to all United fans around the world for their continued support.

Rooney's contract is understood to be worth around £300,000 a week and will be a welcome boost for United fans, who have seen their team slip 11 points off the pace in the hunt for Champions League football.

EUROPA PREVIEW

Serie A leaders Juventus will take a two-goal cushion into the second leg of their UEFA Europa League last-32 tie with Trabzonspor.

Pablo Daniel Osvaldo's first goal for the club put hosts Juve in front on 16 minutes before a controversial moment 20 minutes from time.

Trabzonspor substitute Henrique had a shot saved by Gianluigi Buffon and Olcan Adin scooped home Yusuf Erdogan's cut-back, but was denied as the officials decided the ball had gone out for a corner.

Paul Pogba's goal in stoppage time then added insult to injury for the Turkish side.

Fiorentina will also be heavy favourites to progress along with Juve into the last 16 after a 3-1 win over Esbjerg in Denmark, while Napoli drew 0-0 with Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium.

Alessandro Matri opened the scoring for Fiorentina, only for Martin Pusic to equalise immediately, before the Italians took control through Josip Ilicic and an Alberto Aquilani penalty.

Dutch giants Ajax were swept aside 3-0 at home by Salzburg, who have now scored in 63 consecutive matches, a run that stretches back to December 2012. Sadio Mane and Jonathan Soriano's brace did the damage in Amsterdam.

A one-minute silence was observed at all games involving Ukrainian sides out of respect to those who have lost their lives during the recent political unrest in the country, with some Shakhtar Donetsk players in tears ahead of their 1-1 draw with Viktoria Plzen.

Back in Ukraine, Yevhen Konoplyanka's late penalty gave Dnipro a 1-0 win over Tottenham, strikes from Eduardo Vargas and Antonio Barragan saw Valencia defeat Dynamo Kiev 2-0 and the game between Chornomorets and Lyon finished goalless.

Last season's runners-up Benfica have the advantage heading into their second leg with PAOK, returning from Greece with a 1-0 victory thanks to a second-half goal from Rodrigo Lima.

Bulgarian outfit Ludogorets shocked Lazio 1-0, Roman Bezjak's strike securing a famous victory in Rome before Luis Pedro Cavanda and Svetoslav Dyakov were dismissed in the second half as both sides finished with 10 men.

Sevilla drew 2-2 in Slovenia against Maribor, while Porto's match with Eintracht Frankfurt finished in the same result after the German outfit came from two goals down to give themselves a healthy chance of progressing.

Nick Viergever's strike a minute from time earned AZ a 1-0 win at Slovan Liberec, while Anzhi and Genk played out a 0-0 draw in Russia.

Elsewhere, Real Betis drew 1-1 at home with Rubin Kazan and Maccabi Tel Aviv's game with Basel ended goalless.

ANGOLA APPOINT NEW COACH

Angola have named Romeu Filemon as their new national team coach to replace the Uruguayan Gustavo Ferrin, who was dismissed.

Former Bafana Bafana coach Joel Santana had been tipped for the job last November and went to Luanda to meet with the Angolan Football Federation (AFF), but the job never materialised.

Romeu, 49, has been handed a two-year contract with his first priority to qualify Angola for the next African Nations Cup finals in Morocco next year, the AFF confirmed on Thursday. Qualification starts in September.

Romeu previously coached at six different Angolan top flight clubs and was also the country’s under-20 team coach.
