I FEEL FOR NEYMAR - NADAL

Neymar has been unlucky to be caught up in the saga that followed his move from Santos, says former Barcelona defender Miguel Angel Nadal.

An investigation into Barcelona's signing of Neymar is a factor behind the departure of former club president Sandro Rosell.

Barcelona claim the transfer fee was €57.1million, but reports indicate Neymar's move from his native Brazil cost them over €85million.

More legal action is expected and former Spain defender Nadal feels for the 22-year-old forward.

"Neymar is very young and naturally, he has nothing to do with this issue," Nadal toldGoal.com.

"Different stories emerge and they are things that don't usually come out. He is (only) involved because the story is there.

"The player should be left alone in all this. The only thing he did was come to Barcelona because they proposed it to him."

Nadal has also warned Barcelona that the off-field troubles could have an impact on the club's La Liga title defence.

The Catalan giants sit second in the table, three points behind Atletico Madrid, after losing 3-2 at home to Valencia on Saturday.

"The more calm there is at a club, the better," Nadal added.

"That way, attention is focused solely on the objectives outlined at the beginning of the season.

"When that is lost, it can have an effect.

"In these last few months of the season, Barcelona have to find ambition and security as a team - and also correct a few errors."
