SESSEGNON CHARGED WITH DRINK DRIVING

Sunderland forward Stephane Sessegnon has been charged with drink-driving. Sessegnon, 29, was stopped and arrested by police on Westgate Road, in Newcastle, at around 7.51pm on Tuesday -- the same time his Black Cats team-mates were facing MK Dons in the Capital One Cup second round.
The former Paris Saint-Germain player will appear before Newcastle magistrates on October 4.
A Northumbria police spokesperson said: “A 29-year-old man was stopped by police on Westgate Road in Newcastle. He was subsequently charged with drink-driving."
The incident could spell the end of Sessegnon's time at Sunderland, despite manager Paolo Di Canio’s recent statement that he does not wish to sell the player.
However, Di Canio has recently questioned whether speculation over the Benin international’s future has disrupted his start to the season.
“He was the most positive player in pre-season, but it can happen in the approach to the season. Maybe he paid a big price, you don’t know,” he told the Daily Mail.
“You don’t know if they come from a not very good moment. Maybe there is some problem or some rumour. They are humans. They are guys that are intelligent but sometimes, when things, happen they lose the right way.
“That is not because they are bad people, they just hear the rumours: a big opportunity, big money. You don’t know.
“He is not the only one who can do much better. A few others can. But that will come.”
