Everton fans turning up at the club's brand new kit launch could have been forgiven
for feeling slightly baffled and excited that the club had made another signing on the quiet,
with one replica shirt bearing the name 'Deufoleu'.
Was 'Deufoleu', a name nobody in the footballing world had heard of before, going to be
Everton's new star man? Had Goodison boss Roberto Martinez discovered a new hidden
talent?
Unfortunately for Blues fans the answer was no.
Instead, one Everton employee had carelessly spelled new signing Gerard Deulofeu's name
wrong, the young Barcelona 'diamond' who recently joined the Merseysiders on loan.
Fans flocked to the Toffees city centre club shop, (which is cleverly, and cheekily, named
Everton Two and located in the 'Liverpool One' shopping complex - the address reads 'Everton
Two, Liverpool One') to meet new striker Arouna Kone and Belgium international Kevin
Mirallas.
And despite Goodison Park chiefs angering supporters earlier this summer by deciding to
change the club's famous badge without consultation, hundreds of fans lined up to purchase
the new shirt. However, this latest faux-pas will have undoubtedly embarrassed the Everton
faithful slightly.
