TOONS MAY GIVE UP BAFETIMBI CHASE

Newcastle have had an improved bid of £8m for striker Bafetimbi Gomis turned down
by Lyon.
Gomis, 27, is a target for Newcastle manager Alan Pardew, but the Ligue 1 side are demanding
more for the France international.
Newcastle had an initial £6m bid plus add-ons rejected last week and came back with a
bigger bid over the weekend.
That was turned down by Lyon and Newcastle threatened to walk away from the deal on
Sunday.
Gomis is desperate for the move to happen, but Newcastle are unwilling to increase their offer
for the forward.
