Manchester United manager David Moyes is returning to England to prepare for showdown
talks with Wayne Rooney.
The two men have not spoken since Moyes infuriated Rooney by suggesting that he wanted to
keep the unsettled England striker at Old Trafford as back-up for Robin van Persie.
The 27-year-old is said to be as determined as ever to leave Old Trafford and will make his
feelings known to the manager when they meet.
Moyes and the rest of his squad landed in Manchester early on Tuesday morning from Hong
Kong after completing the club's tour of Australia and the Far East, having not seen Rooney for
almost three weeks since he left the training camp in Bangkok with a hamstring injury.
The player is expected to return to action in United's friendly against AIK in Stockholm next
week having resumed light training at Carrington.
Rooney was pictured with his family on a beach in Portugal over the weekend although it is
understood that he had the club's permission to take a short break.
Moyes revealed after United's 5-2 win over Kitchee FC in Hong Kong that there has been no
more contact with Chelsea over Rooney since United rejected a £20million bid earlier this
month.
'I couldn't give you any more update than I've said before,' added the new United boss.
