The London club have taken maximum points just once in their six domestic fixtures this season, in a 1-0 victory away to Sunderland on the opening day.
Since then the club have lost four and drawn once, a run that has seen them slip into the relegation zone.
Their latest setback came in a 2-1 reverse against Cardiff City at Craven Cottage on Saturday, with Jordon Mutch scoring a spectacular injury-time winner for Malky Mackay's side.
But despite their alarming run, Jol believes that he can guide the team away from trouble.
"The devil was playing with us," he said. "If you concede goals that late, it's awful.
"We are very close. It's not easy to win games.
"I can appreciate fans are getting a bit nervous, or other people. If they invest money in the club, they would like to be in the top 10.
"The only risk I can see is that we will still be near the bottom at the end of the season.
"I feel I can keep them up, but it's not about me."
