TUNISIA POSTPONES LEAGUE

Tunisia Football Federation on Tuesday put off the commencement of the new season following ongoing disputes between the body and club presidents.
The union of club presidents says clubs will not participate in the new campaign unless the FA settles compensations for the closed door situation imposed last season that affected the teams financially.
The union says Tunisian clubs are in dire straits due to the ban on game attendance by the authorities owing to the political instability in the country.
Initially scheduled to kick off on Thursday August 22, the new season will begin at a date yet to be decided by the FA and the union of club presidents. Both parties have held several meetings without reaching a compromise.
Clubs in the country have been playing most of their domestic games behind closed doors as was the case after the Arab Spring, thus generating a loss to the clubs.
Club officials have requested for compensations from the government if the situation should continue in the new season, but are yet to obtain a favourable response.
