WOLFSWINKEL TOOK RVP'S ADVICE AND JOINED NORWICH CITY

Ricky van Wolfswinkel has revealed he took advice from Manchester United’s very own van man before choosing to swap Sporting Lisbon for Norwich.
The Premier League’s latest Dutch striker spoke to Robin van Persie while joining up with the national team and heard nothing but praise for the Norfolk team.
Van Wolfswinkel was being tracked by some of Europe’s bigger teams, but opted for Norwich after they followed up their interest with a club record £8.5million bid.
And the 24-year-old showed what all the fuss was about in his debut against Everton on Saturday with an expertly taken headed goal that capped off a fine performance full of smart runs, neat link up play, and, a stronger than expected physical presence.
Van Wolfswinkel has two Holland caps, the latest coming in June against Indonesia, while Van Persie was in the United team who lost 1-0 to Chris Hughton’s side at Carrow Road last season.
He said: ‘When I was with the national team, I spoke to Robin Van Persie before I signed for Norwich. He said that Norwich had made a big impression on him.
‘He said that they were always a difficult team to play against and that their crowd really got behind them. I know that they beat Manchester United 1-0 last season.
‘From the first moment that I signed for Norwich, this was the day that I’ve been waiting for; to play in front of a full house at Norwich. I like the whole atmosphere around the club, the stadium and the city. For me it’s just the perfect place to play.’
Van Wolfswinkel took his goal with aplomb, finding space between defenders to convert Steven Whittaker’s miscued shot from the right flank.
He added: ‘These are the moments you are waiting for and as a striker you should always be in that spot.
