Newcastle United goalkeeper Tim Krul is to be assessed further after the club confirmed that he has damaged ligaments in his elbow.
Krul sustained an injury to his elbow in training for Netherlands last Saturday ahead of Monday's 2-0 Euro 2016 qualifying defeat to Iceland.
The 26-year-old flew back to Tyneside for scans on his elbow on Monday and is a doubt for this Saturday's Premier League clash with Leicester City.
A statement on Newcastle's website read: "Newcastle United have received the results of goalkeeper Tim Krul's scan on Monday.
"It showed ligament damage to his left elbow and Krul will be assessed further by the Magpies' medical staff ahead of Saturday's Barclays Premier League fixture against Leicester City."
A prospective lengthy lay-off for Krul would come as a huge blow to a Newcastle side still awaiting their first league win of the campaign.
Newcastle sit 18th in the Premier League with just four points, with fans putting pressure on owner Mike Ashley to remove manager Alan Pardew from his post.
Krul has made over 150 appearances in all competitions in his career at St James' Park.
