Blind will not shy away at United

Daley Blind believes he will thrive in a star-studded Manchester United dressing room due to the self-confidence instilled in him at Ajax.

The versatile 24-year-old moved to Old Trafford in September after Ajax accepted a bid of £13.8million.

That fee paled in comparison to the £59.7million United paid to sign Angel di Maria from Real Madrid, while Louis van Gaal's loan capture of Radamel Falcao from Monaco also generated greater excitement than Blind's arrival.

However, Netherlands international Blind insists that the characteristic of Amsterdamse bluf, a term used for the self-confidence possessed by residents of the Dutch capital and drilled into academy players at Ajax, will ensure that he is not fazed by the presence of United's big-name stars.

"I'm not a player United [paid a fortune for] like Di Maria," Blind said in quotes reported by the Independent.

"But that doesn't make me a shy boy in the dressing room and on the training pitch.

"Thanks to Amsterdamse bluf, we Ajax players have a natural self confidence."

Blind has made four Premier League appearances since reuniting with Van Gaal, his national coach at the World Cup.
