Diego Costa has passed his Chelsea medical ahead of the striker’s £32million switch from Atletico Madrid.
Costa’s move to Stamford Bridge, which was agreed in principle weeks ago, had been held up by a hamstring injury. But, with the striker now returning to training with Spain, Chelsea have ensured they complete the medical before the start of the World Cup.
The Brazil-born 25-year-old scored 27 goals in 34 league starts for Atletico last season, in addition to eight Champions League strikes.
In contrast Samuel Eto’o, Fernando Torres and Demba Ba scored a combined total of 19 Premier League goals for Chelsea throughout the course of the season.
With the medical out of the way, the deal is now expected to be completed by the end of the week.
