VENEZUELA PRIMERA DIVISION WRAP

  2013
Atletico El Vigia's rise up the Venezuelan Primera Division table has continued after a 1-1 draw away to Deportivo Petare.
Having claimed a breakthrough win last week over Yaracuyanos to move off the bottom of the table, El Vigia were on the verge of another three points until Petare equalised with 12 minutes remaining on Sunday.
But the point was still handy for El Vigia as they moved up to 16th above Deportivo La Guaira, who lost 1-0 to Aragua.
El Vigia have seven points from nine matches this season and could rise further up the standings when they host 15th-placed Zulia in a fortnight.
Norman Cabrera gave El Vigia the lead in the 69th minute at Petare's Estadio Olimpico de la UCV but the home side claimed a share of the points when Felix Casseres scored nine minutes later.
Deportivo Anzoategui moved to the top of Venezuela's top tier of football after they claimed their fifth consecutive game unbeaten with a 2-1 victory away to Yaracuyanos.
Rolando Escobar and Edwin Aguilar scored the goals for Anzoategui as they moved up to 22 points, leapfrogging Caracas (20 points) into top spot, after the latter team drew 1-1 with Mineros de Guayana.
Carabobo moved into third position with a 1-1 draw versus Trujillanos, while Zamora dropped to fourth after a 2-0 loss to Deportivo Tachira.
Llaneros de Guanare triumphed 3-2 over Tucanes in the game of the weekend, while Atletico Venezuela defeated Deportivo Lara 1-0 and Estudiantes de Merida drew 1-1 with Zulia.
