SUNDERLAND SET TO APPOINT GUS POYET

 

Gus Poyet appears set to become Paolo Di Canio's successor 

The Black Cats sacked Paolo Di Canio after a poor string of results and currently lie bottom of the table.
Kevin Ball is the current interim boss and though he has seen side lose against Liverpool and Manchester United, there were encouraging signs in the latter performance.
Negotiations have already taken place between the club and Poyet who has been out of work since leaving Brighton in the summer.

The odds have been drastically cut on Poyet taking over, with some bookmakers offering as short as 1/50 for him to become the next boss.
Sunderland had previously stated they would not rush into appointing someone until they had found the right person.
